An assignation in a boudoir

An immediate impression of crème brulée, with thick cream, is followed by mandarin fondant chocolates and Russian caramel toffees - ‘the smell of wealth’; satin and velvet swags, polished furniture, soft leather and newly laid carpets. The first taste is sweet, with buttery melted toffee and smooth dark chocolate; Chocolate Creams and champagne truffles. Water raises a light sulphur note to start, soon returning to the scents discerned at natural strength, joined by Pledge furniture polish, faded roses, scented candles. Now the texture is smoother, with light sulphur and a spicy/spritzich effect on the tongue, like raspberry sherbet: warming and comforting. This make is uncommon as a single, since it is the heart of Ballantine’s blends.
